What Bold does well

  • Oversized name in heavy capitals across the top of the page
  • Summary in white text on a solid black panel
  • Heavy section headings over thick black rules
  • Narrow margins that leave more room for content than most single-column designs here
  • Capitalised skill categories arranged in two columns

Content
Written for the posting you paste in

Upload your CV and paste a job posting. The Studio writes the content for that role, scores it against the posting, and lays it out in Bold.

How Bold is laid out

Bold runs in one column on A4 with narrow margins. Your name fills the top in heavy capitals, contact details sit on a line divided by vertical bars, and the summary appears as white text in a black box above a thick black rule; each section opens with a large heavy heading, while the entries use a plain sans-serif with dates on the right.

Who it suits

  • Salespeople and start-up hires who want to make a confident first impression
  • Creative and media applicants who want impact without using colour
  • A punchy summary that should be read before anything else
  • Anyone who needs to fit a fair amount on the page without dropping to small type

Good to know

  • The black summary panel uses a lot of toner and can photocopy unevenly; if the CV will be printed in quantity, Classic is the quieter choice.
  • The header covers email, phone, location and website but not LinkedIn, and awards carry no description line.
  • Heavy capitals take up width, so a long name may break onto two lines.
