What Simple does well

  • Centred name in regular weight, with contact details and LinkedIn on one line below
  • Serif type throughout and no accent colour
  • Employers in grey italics so job titles stand out
  • Skills listed one group per line, category first
  • The same section structure as Modern, minus the icons and colour

Content
Written for the posting you paste in

Upload your CV and paste a job posting. The Studio writes the content for that role, scores it against the posting, and lays it out in Simple.

How Simple is laid out

Simple is a single A4 column with generous margins and a serif typeface. The header is centred, with the name in regular weight, a line of contact details and a short centred summary above a light grey rule; sections follow under bold uppercase headings with a thin underline, and each entry puts the job title in bold with the employer, location and dates in quieter grey.

Who it suits

  • Public sector, education and administrative roles where a plain document suits
  • First CVs and career changes, because the format adds no visual weight to a short history
  • Anyone who likes serif type but finds Classic's capitals and justified text too formal
  • CVs that will be printed, since there is no colour or shading to lose

Good to know

  • The summary is centred under your name, which reads well at two or three lines; a longer one is easier to follow left-aligned, as in Modern or Executive.
  • Generous margins and line spacing mean longer histories tend to need a second page. BGJC gives a similar plain serif look in a little less space.
